Effutu needs more community day SHSs — Paramount Chief

The Paramount Chief of Effutu, Neenyi Ghartey VII, has called on the government to construct more community day senior high schools (E-Blocks) in rural parts of Effutu municipality to improve access to education.

Speaking at the Aboakyer Festival, he said many students face difficulties accessing secondary education because most schools are concentrated in Winneba.

He acknowledged that President John Dramani Mahama had cut sod for an E-block project in the area but stressed that more needs to be done to support students.

“Our President, Mahama, cut sod for the construction of an E-block. However, accessing secondary education remains a challenge, as most schools are located in Simpa,” he said.

“We are appealing to you, the Vice President, to address the situation by making provisions for an E-block to enable students to attend as day students,” he added.

Neenyi Ghartey VII said expanding community day schools would ease the burden on students who currently have to travel long distances or or stay in boarding facilities.

He also called for stronger collaboration between the government and the traditional council to accelerate development in the area.

“We also urge the government to strengthen collaboration with the traditional council to promote development in the area,” he said.
