The Founder of International Central Gospel Church, Pastor Dr Mensa Otabil, has bemoaned the perception some Christians have about the faith.
According to him, some Christians are of the wrong beliefs that the faith is about getting every problem one has resolved by God.
“Christianity goes beyond seeking breakthrough, seeking favour, seeking answers to prayer. Christianity is not about God giving you a child. Oh, yes, even science can give you a child.
“Christianity goes beyond having a child, having a husband, having money, having favour, having breakthroughs, paying your rent,” Pastor Otabil said in a short video clip of a sermon he shared on X on May 8, 2025.
The pastor indicated that if Christianity is only about people getting their needs, then there is no need for the faith.
He added that God goes beyond the physical needs of people to provide for their spiritual needs.
“If that is what you’re looking for, so many people can satisfy you; rich people can satisfy you. But Jesus gives us bread that nobody else can satisfy. Because he goes beyond your immediate need to go into the deep needs of your soul, of your spirit,” he said.
