President John Dramani Mahama has urged African countries to reposition themselves to take full advantage of the shifting dynamics in global geopolitics and trade.

Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum on Saturday, April 19, 2025, President Mahama stated that that continent has consistently missed out on the economic benefits of major global transitions.

He emphasised the need for Africa to reduce its dependence on imports by building resilient economies focused on manufacturing, industrialisation, digital entrepreneurship, and agribusiness.

“The world is changing, and new opportunities are being thrown up, and we as a country must take advantage of those opportunities. Africa must shake itself out of the mindset that we are only traders; we can be anything that we want”, he noted.

The second edition of the Kwahu Business Forum will run from Saturday, April 19, to Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the Mpraeso Social Centre in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region.

The two-day event, which is themed, “The Future of Business: The Role of the Financial Sector,” is designed to serve as a platform for dialogue between financial institutions and private sector players.

It has convened policymakers, entrepreneurs, and investors to explore innovative strategies for economic development and private sector empowerment in Ghana and across Africa.
