A District Court has remanded Samuel Adjei into police custody in connection with a fatal shooting during an enstoolment ceremony at Nungua.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday, February 22, 2025, led to the death of Naa Borley Ahmed, who was allegedly shot in the right thigh by the suspect.
According to a police statement, preliminary investigations indicate that Adjei discharged live ammunition from a single-barrel gun during the ceremony. The victim was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.
Samuel Adjei was arraigned before the court on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, on a murder charge. The court subsequently remanded him into police custody, and he is expected to reappear on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
Speaking to Citi News, Nene Teye Kwalaa II, an in-law of the deceased Queen Mother, described the incident as shocking and tragic, calling on authorities to ensure justice is served.
“The police arrested the culprit after the incident when the Queen Mother was sent to the hospital. Now, we have heard that the police have remanded the culprit as investigations continue. What we demand is justice for our deceased.”
