The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has confirmed the arrest of one of its officers, Assistant Immigration Control Officer I Ahmed Abdul Samad, in connection with an ongoing police investigation into ammunition trafficking.
In a press release issued on January 6, the Service stated that its Upper East Regional Command released the officer to the Ghana Police Service following a formal request.
The arrest is linked to the interception of a large quantity of ammunition by the Police.
The GIS emphasised that it will not shield any officer whose actions threaten public safety or compromise the integrity of the Service.

It assured the public of its full cooperation with the police investigation and reiterated its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and national security.
The release said appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against any officer found culpable in accordance with established laws and procedures.
