“Ruto, We Are the Ones Who Built You a House, and We Will Be the First to Demolish It” — Methu
Nyandarua Senator John Methu has launched another political attack against President William Ruto, popularly referred to by his critics as Kasongo, issuing a strong warning over the 2027 General Election.
In his remarks, Methu accused the President of benefiting from the support of leaders who helped him rise to power, only for political differences to emerge between them.
“Kasongo, we are the ones who built your house, and we will be the first to demolish it,” Methu declared.
The senator’s remarks are likely to attract attention given his past political association with President Ruto before he shifted his support to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Methu was among the leaders who supported Ruto’s presidential bid in 2022. However, his political position changed following Gachagua’s impeachment in October 2024.
Since then, he has become one of Gachagua’s vocal allies and currently serves as the Secretary-General of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
His latest remarks come at a time when opposition leaders are intensifying political activities across the country as they prepare for the 2027 General Election.
On Sunday, November 8, Gachagua and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka toured Kitengela town in Kajiado County, where they declared that the opposition was working towards presenting one presidential candidate against Ruto.
The two leaders also used the rally to push their unity message as political conversations over the next election continue.
Meanwhile, other opposition figures, including Fred Matiang’i and Martha Karua, were involved in political activities in Nanyuki, Laikipia County.
Methu’s statement adds to the growing criticism directed at the Kenya Kwanza administration by leaders who previously supported its formation.
As the political contest gathers momentum, the senator’s warning raises fresh questions about the growing political fallout between Ruto and some of his former allies.
Will Methu and other opposition leaders succeed in turning their political criticism into votes in 2027?
