Ramaphosa to attend official announcement of 2026 election results

ELECTION NEWS – President Cyril Ramaphosa will attend the official announcement of the 2026 Local Government Election results on Sunday, 8 November, at the Electoral Commission of South Africa's (IEC) National Results Operations Centre at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, Gauteng.

The announcement is scheduled to begin at 18:00 and will be broadcast live on the IEC's official digital platforms.

Ramaphosa will attend as President of South Africa and deliver brief remarks during the ceremony.

The announcement follows the local government elections held on Wednesday, 4 November, with special voting having taken place on 2 and 3 November.

The elections gave South Africans the chance to elect municipal representatives responsible for local governance and service delivery over the next five years.

The IEC has been finalising outstanding electoral processes, including objections, ahead of the official declaration of results.
