Fred Arocho Reveals Why He Was Forced to Intervene After Incident Involving His Brother

Sports journalist Fred Arocho has revealed how he stepped in to calm his twin brother, Billy Arocho Otunnga, following an altercation during the tense Football Kenya Federation (FKF) meeting in Meru.

Fred explained that he had to intervene after Billy got into a disagreement with another person at the event. “My twin brother Billy had an altercation with someone in Meru, I had to come in as the BIG Brother to calm the situation,” Fred said.

The incident attracted attention after a video showing Fred restraining his brother circulated on social media. The moment came as tensions rose during the FKF Special General Meeting held at Three Steers Hotel in Meru on Saturday, November 7.

The meeting had been called to discuss issues surrounding the federation’s leadership, including the conduct of seven members of its National Executive Committee (NEC).

According to reports, the gathering was disrupted by disorder at the hotel, where groups of youths had gathered as officials and delegates arrived. Police officers were deployed to restore order, and tear gas was used during the confrontation.

The unrest added to the ongoing disagreements within the country’s football governing body.

Fred’s explanation has also drawn attention to the close relationship between the two brothers. Although they are twins, Fred referred to himself as the big brother while explaining why he stepped in to prevent the disagreement from getting worse.

Billy is known for his work in security and has been associated with high-profile security duties. He has also been described in local media as a close confidant of President William Ruto.

Fred, on the other hand, is a familiar voice in Kenyan sports broadcasting, particularly football commentary. He has built a name for himself through his coverage and analysis of local and international football.
