Julius Malema Attacks Outgoing Ekurhuleni Mayor Doctor Xhakaza

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Commander-in-Chief Julius Malema has launched a scathing attack on outgoing City of Ekurhuleni Executive Mayor Doctor Xhakaza, accusing him of stubbornness and political arrogance that ultimately cost him control of the municipality.

Speaking on the sidelines of ongoing election briefings, the outspoken EFF leader did not pull any punches when reflecting on the coalition dynamics and turbulent governance struggles that have plagued Gauteng’s industrial hub.

Malema asserted that Xhakaza’s downfall was completely self-inflicted, claiming that the outgoing mayor refused to compromise or maintain workable political relationships when it mattered most.

According to Malema, both sides should have put their political differences aside for the sake of municipal stability and effective service delivery, but Xhakaza’s failure to engage constructly sealed his fate.

“He was arrogant, and now he will see dust,” Malema declared during his fiery commentary, warning that politicians who mismanage coalition opportunities eventually face severe consequences at the local level.

The EFF leader emphasized that political leaders in complex municipal coalitions must learn to negotiate pragmatically rather than posturing. He noted that arrogance only divides council seats and frustrates residents who are waiting for clean water, reliable electricity, and sustained infrastructure development across Ekurhuleni.

Malema’s brutal public call-out comes at a time of intense political maneuvering as parties position themselves for post-election power-sharing arrangements and local government realignments. Critics within the ANC have pushed back, but EFF representatives continue to insist that Xhakaza failed to grasp the realities of coalition mathematics in Gauteng.
