‘Tell him to pick my calls’ – Joselyn Dumas opens up on ‘deep’ bond with Sarkodie

In an interview with MC Portfolio, Joselyn Dumas revealed that she shares a particularly close relationship with multiple award winning rapper Sarkodie, whom she has known since the early stages of his music career. According to her, their friendship dates back to the period when Sarkodie was rapidly establishing himself as one of Ghana’s most promising rappers.

Recounting their first professional interactions, Joselyn disclosed that Sarkodie granted her one of the most memorable interviews during her time as host of the entertainment programme Rhythms. She described the rapper as one of the fastest-growing talents in the country at the time, adding that their relationship gradually developed into a strong personal bond.

She explained that their friendship is characterised by mutual respect, affection and the kind of playful disagreements commonly experienced between siblings. Joselyn revealed that she and Sarkodie sometimes exchange complaints over unanswered phone calls, although such moments have never affected the strength of their relationship.

Sharing a humorous personal experience, the actress recalled visiting Sarkodie’s residence, where the rapper personally prepared jollof rice for her. She praised his cooking abilities, suggesting that his talents extend beyond music.

During the interview, Joselyn was also playfully asked about attending Sarkodie’s upcoming concert at the O2 Arena. Taking advantage of the opportunity, she jokingly appealed to the rapper to return her phone calls.

Beyond Sarkodie, Joselyn expressed admiration for dancehall star Shatta Wale and reggae-dancehall musician Stonebwoy, describing both entertainers as close friends and family members.

She disclosed that she occasionally advises Shatta Wale, particularly when she believes he should avoid unnecessary controversies. She also commended Stonebwoy for his consistent support, noting that he often shows up for her without requiring any special invitation or request.

Concluding her remarks, Joselyn praised Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy for their contributions to Ghanaian music, describing them as important ambassadors who continue to represent the country on the international stage.
