Former Nandi MP Alfred Keter Exposes Ruto’s Alleged Mistake in Nandi That Could Haunt Him in 2027
Former Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter has taken aim at President William Ruto over allegations that electricity poles delivered for a project in Nandi disappeared shortly after the Head of State launched the initiative.
Keter shared a complaint from a resident of Kabool, who questioned why an electrification project announced during the President’s visit had stalled before households received the expected connections.
According to the resident, trucks belonging to the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) arrived carrying electricity poles, accompanied by engineers who were expected to oversee the installation. The arrival raised hopes among residents that their homes would soon be connected to the national electricity grid.
However, the complainant alleged that the poles were taken away after Ruto left the area and the engineers also disappeared. The resident appealed to REREC to return the materials and workers so that the project could be completed.
Reacting to the complaint, Keter accused the President of making development promises without delivering the expected results. He also drew comparisons with an earlier incident in Embu, claiming that residents in Nandi were experiencing a similar situation.
“What I like with Ruto is that he does not discriminate in deceiving the people!” Keter declared, using the allegations to question the government’s record on development commitments.
The former legislator’s remarks have brought attention to concerns about the implementation of rural electrification projects. In October, the Senate Energy Committee announced oversight visits following concerns about projects that had been launched without timely household connections.
However, the specific allegations surrounding the Kabool project have not been independently established. The available information also does not explain why the electricity poles were allegedly removed or whether REREC has issued a response.
The complaint leaves questions about the project’s progress and whether affected residents will eventually receive the electricity connections they were promised.
