ICYMI: How MTN users can access FG’s N50,000 grant
According to a report by The Vanguard on Friday, November 6, 2026, Nigerians assigned to MoMo Payment Service Bank under the Federal Government’s N50,000 National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI) can use a USSD service to check their payment status without an internet connection.
The option is available to beneficiaries using their registered mobile numbers. By dialling 6710# and following the instructions, recipients can find out whether they have been selected or whether a payment has been processed.
Those who receive a message from MoMo must respond to the consent request and complete the steps provided. The message is part of the payment process, rather than an invitation to submit a new application.
Recipients without a MoMo wallet can create one by dialling *671# or installing the MoMo NG application. After funds arrive, they can access the money through the app or USSD service, withdraw through an authorised MoMo agent, or transfer the amount to a bank account.
MoMo PSB is not the only institution handling the intervention. Other payment providers named in the report are ALAT by Wema Bank, NairaGram, OPay and Moniepoint. Beneficiaries are expected to receive notifications from the provider assigned to them, so the process may differ depending on the payment channel.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, announced on October 30 that qualified recipients would receive ₦50,000 every month. He said payment would be sent directly to a beneficiary’s account or mobile wallet after consent had been provided through the SMS.
Doro also stated that participation does not require an application, payment or the services of an agent. The ministry has warned Nigerians not to disclose their personal identification numbers or Bank Verification Numbers to unauthorised people.
The NERSI portal indicates that notifications are being issued in batches. A “NOT SELECTED” result means the person has not been chosen in the current process; the report says there is no government assurance that those excluded will be added in a later round.
Beneficiaries should rely on their assigned provider’s channels and avoid links or individuals claiming they can secure payment.
