South Africa Election Results: ANC, DA And MKP Lead With 98% Counted
The African National Congress (ANC) continues to lead the national election results in South Africa, with the latest figures showing the party maintaining its first position as vote counting approaches completion.
With 98% of the votes counted at 11:09, the ANC had secured 30.93%, keeping it ahead of its closest competitor, the Democratic Alliance (DA), which recorded 24.59%.
The latest figures indicate that the ANC remains at the top of the national standings, although its support is below the 50% mark. The DA continues to occupy second place, while the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) has consolidated its position as the third-largest party in the current tally.
The MKP recorded 9.59%, putting it ahead of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), which had 6.26%. The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) followed with 4.71%.
Further down the standings, the Patriotic Alliance (PA) registered 1.95%, while the SDP had 0.45%. RTC recorded 0.05% in the figures released at the time of the update.
The results show a clear gap between the three leading parties and the other political organisations listed. The ANC’s 30.93% gives it a lead of more than six percentage points over the DA, while the MKP remains third with a considerably smaller share of the vote.
However, the figures are not yet final. With 2% of the count still outstanding, the remaining results could cause adjustments to the parties’ percentages and overall positions.
The national race is therefore approaching its final stage, with attention focused on whether the leading parties will maintain their current standings when the Electoral Commission completes the counting process.
For now, the ANC remains in first place, followed by the DA and MKP, as South Africa awaits the conclusion of the national vote tally.
