Asantehemaa intervenes to improve network access in 5 communities
The Asantehemaa, Nana Yaa Akyaa II, has intervened to facilitate the installation of telecommunication masts in five communities in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District in the Ashanti Region to improve network connectivity.
The intervention followed challenges encountered by the district assembly in securing land for the installation of the masts, with some individuals reportedly demanding payment before allowing the project to proceed.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya North, Mba Zachariah Alenbilla, disclosed this on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, when he led a delegation from the assembly and traditional authorities to the Manhyia Palace at the invitation of the Asantehemaa.
The visit was also to express appreciation to her as far as the development of the district was concerned.
He said the Asantehemaa had directed that the land required for the installation of the masts should be made available to the assembly without charge to enable residents to enjoy improved network services.
Mr Alenbilla said the five communities expected to benefit from the project were Nketia, Asamang, Atwima Koforidua, Mfensi and Barekuma.
He explained that the assembly had already completed the installation of masts at Barekuma, where residents were enjoying improved network connectivity, while work on the remaining sites was ongoing.
The DCE said the intervention would help address persistent network challenges in the district and improve residents’ access to communication services.
He expressed gratitude to the Asantehemaa for her intervention, saying the support would accelerate development and improve the quality of life of residents in the beneficiary communities.
The Asantehemaa commended the assembly for its development initiatives, particularly projects being undertaken in Asamanka.
The Asantehemaa underscored the importance of the provision of the masts to the socio-economic development of the beneficiary communities.
She indicated that the masts would improve the social life of the residents
Mr Alenbilla was accompanied by the assembly’s Coordinating Director, Head of the Planning Unit, District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Assembly Members, the Presiding Member and traditional leaders.
