Pitso Mosimane Stresses Importance Of Building Strong Relationships With PSL Coaches

Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane has highlighted the importance of maintaining strong working relationships with coaches of Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs, explaining that cooperation between national team and club coaches is essential for South African football.

Mosimane said he believes communication and mutual understanding between the national team technical team and local clubs can help improve player development and ensure that Bafana Bafana benefit from better preparation ahead of international assignments.

The coach also revealed his intention to visit PSL clubs personally as part of efforts to strengthen relationships with their technical teams and understand the conditions under which national team players are working.

His comments come amid discussions about the relationship between national team coaches and their club counterparts, particularly regarding player availability, workload, fitness and selection.

Mosimane indicated that he agrees with the position expressed by the Orlando Pirates coach on the need for constructive engagement between the different coaching structures.

Rather than allowing disagreements to develop, he believes coaches should communicate directly and work towards common objectives that benefit both the clubs and the national team.

Visiting clubs would also give him an opportunity to interact with players, observe their performances and engage with coaches about their progress.

The relationship between club football and the national team remains important because PSL sides provide a significant pool of players for Bafana Bafana.

Mosimane’s proposed visits could therefore create an opportunity for improved cooperation, particularly as South Africa continues preparing for upcoming international competitions.

His message is that successful national team football requires more than selecting talented players; it also depends on building trust and maintaining open communication with the coaches who work with those players every week.
