Wa Muthende gives glimpse of private jet he, other politicians used to travel to Charlene’s wedding

Mbeere North MP Leo wa Muthende has shared a video capturing the moment he and other Kenyan dignitaries arrived in Tanzania aboard a Gulfstream private jet ahead of the lavish wedding of President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto.

In the video, which he posted on Facebook on the evening of Friday, November 6, 2026, the legislator is seen alighting from a grey private jet after landing at an airport in Mwanza, where the high-profile wedding was taking place.

Wa Muthende looked sharp in a kitenge suit, which he accessorised with a ceremonial walking stick. He wore a broad smile as he stepped out of the aircraft, appearing visibly excited about joining the celebrations.

The footage also offered a glimpse of the arrival of other Kenyan officials who had travelled alongside the MP to attend the wedding. Wa Muthende identified his fellow passengers as Water and Sanitation Principal Secretary Julius Korir and Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) Board Chairperson Engineer Anthony Mwaura.

Sharing the video, the Mbeere North MP said they had travelled to Mwanza to stand with President Ruto as he witnessed his daughter marry the man she loves.

“Arriving in Mwanza, Tanzania, in the company of Water and Sanitation PS Mr. Julius Korir and KERRA Board Chairperson Eng. Anthony Mwaura, to join H.E. President William Samoei Ruto for his daughter’s wedding,” Wa Muthende wrote.

Charlene and Tanzanian technology entrepreneur Isaya Yunge exchanged wedding vows on Friday, November 6, at Malaika Beach Resort in Mwanza, in a ceremony overlooking Lake Victoria.

The wedding marked the culmination of several months of preparations and celebrations following the couple’s traditional Kalenjin Koito ceremony, which was held on August 8 at President Ruto’s Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County.

The couple’s pre-wedding celebrations continued in Nairobi on Tuesday, November 3, when Charlene held a white-and-purple-themed bridal shower attended by friends and family. Messages displayed on the cake included ‘Miss Babe to Mrs Babe’ and ‘Hey Mrs Yunge’, reflecting the transition into married life.

On Wednesday, November 4, First Lady Rachel Ruto hosted a Mother’s Blessing prayer gathering attended by Charlene’s aunts and other family elders. The event provided an opportunity for relatives to pray for the bride as she prepared to begin a new chapter of her life.

Charlene had arrived in Mwanza earlier that week, where she received a warm welcome featuring traditional dancers, drummers and luxury vehicles.

President Ruto and First Lady Rachel were among the prominent guests at the ceremony, with the Head of State taking on the symbolic role of walking his daughter down the aisle.

Charlene wore a white, long-sleeved lace wedding gown accompanied by a flowing veil, while Yunge opted for a white double-breasted jacket, black trousers and a bow tie.

The ceremony featured an elaborate outdoor setting, with a mirrored walkway lined with white flowers leading to a floral arch where the couple exchanged their vows. A spacious white reception tent, alongside sections with clear roofing, formed part of the wedding arrangements, with the venue offering views of the surrounding lawns and Lake Victoria.

A bishop from the Africa Inland Church Tanzania officiated the ceremony, which brought together family members, friends, politicians and senior government officials from Kenya and Tanzania.

After exchanging vows, Charlene and Yunge also joined in traditional Kisukuma dancing, giving guests a glimpse of the cultural celebrations accompanying their union. The festivities later featured fireworks along the waterfront.

The wedding attracted considerable attention because of the couple’s prominent backgrounds, with Charlene being the daughter of Kenya’s sitting president and Yunge a Tanzanian technology entrepreneur.
