Petition I Sent To IG Has 10 Names Of My Attackers,One Is President SA; Arrest Him—Sowore To Francis
Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has called on the Nigeria Police Force to arrest individuals he accused of attacking him and members of his team with machetes in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
According to a video shared by Symfoni TV on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, Sowore made the demand during a heated exchange with Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Alonyenu Francis, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
During the meeting, the activist expressed concerns about the safety of himself and his team members, insisting that those allegedly responsible for the attack should be arrested without further delay.
Sowore disclosed that he had personally submitted a petition to the Inspector-General of Police, containing the names of 10 individuals he accused of participating in the incident.
He specifically mentioned Asefon, a Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, as one of the individuals named in the petition. Sowore alleged that Asefon had left Ekiti State and was currently in Abuja, urging the police to begin their arrests with him.
He said, “Life is at stake, I have helped you by providing the people attacked us with machete, you know and we have their names. The petition I sent personally to the IG has 10 names for a start. Some of them are in this Abuja, one of them is the special adviser to the president, Asefon. He ran away from Ekiti and he is in Abuja so you can start by arresting him.”
Responding to Sowore’s concerns, AIG Francis assured him that the Inspector-General of Police had already dispatched a special team from Abuja to Ekiti State to investigate the incident.
He added that the team would work to identify and arrest anyone found responsible for the alleged attack.
