Kenya Power Announces 8-Hour Blackout in Parts of Two Counties on Wednesday, November 4

Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity interruptions in parts of Kiambu and Kwale counties on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, with residents and businesses in the affected locations expected to remain without electricity for up to eight hours.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, November 3, the electricity distributor said the planned outages would allow technicians to carry out routine maintenance on its electricity distribution network.

The interruptions are expected to begin at 9am in both counties, although the scheduled restoration times will differ depending on the affected locations.

In Kiambu County, the maintenance exercise will affect parts of Mwihoko, where electricity supply is scheduled to be interrupted from 9am to 5pm.

Kenya Power listed Mwithiritia SDA, St Lucy Kiriri University, Muigai, Discovery and Mutuya among the affected locations.

Other customers connected to the surrounding electricity network may also experience the interruption during the maintenance exercise.

In Kwale County, the planned electricity interruption will affect the Petrocity Bonje area, with the outage scheduled to begin at 9am and end at 4pm.

Among the facilities listed by Kenya Power are Shell Bonje, Kilimanjaro Biscuits, Petrocity, Afro Afya and Premium Fuels.

The company indicated that neighbouring customers connected to the affected electricity lines would also experience the temporary disruption.

The planned maintenance means residents and businesses in Mwihoko will experience eight hours without electricity, while those in the affected parts of Kwale will remain without power for seven hours.

The interruptions could affect households, businesses, institutions and other customers who depend on a reliable electricity supply for their daily activities.

Kenya Power regularly conducts scheduled maintenance across different parts of the country to facilitate repairs, improve its distribution infrastructure and maintain the reliability of electricity supply.

Customers in the affected areas are advised to make alternative arrangements before the scheduled shutdown, particularly those operating businesses or using electrical equipment that requires an uninterrupted power supply.

The company has urged customers to take note of the announced maintenance schedule as technicians undertake the exercise before the expected restoration of electricity later in the day.
