From Chooboi Chooboi to a Flying Butterfly, the Sad Story of NPP – SK Adams
According to an official Facebook Post by SK Adams on 3 November 2026, concerns have been raised about the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) communication strategy and the individuals entrusted with the responsibility of representing the party in public discussions. In a rather sarcastic commentary, Adams criticised what he perceives as a decline in the quality of the party’s communication, suggesting that Salam Mustapha would have been a better choice than the individual he referred to as the “NPP Abanga guy.”
The writer captured his disappointment in the caption: “From chooboi chooboi to a flying butterfly, the sad story of NPP.”
In the post, SK Adams recalled previously expressing the opinion that Salam Mustapha would perform better in the party’s communication machinery than the current individual under discussion. His latest comments suggest that developments within the NPP’s communication team have strengthened his earlier position.
The expression “chooboi chooboi” appears to be a sarcastic reference to a particular style of political communication, while the description of a “flying butterfly” introduces another layer of mockery into his assessment. Through these expressions, Adams appears to be questioning the direction, consistency and effectiveness of the party’s communication approach.
The criticism comes at a time when political communication has become increasingly important to the NPP, particularly as the party seeks to rebuild its public image, strengthen its relationship with supporters and effectively respond to criticisms from political opponents.
For a major political organisation such as the NPP, the Director of Communications and other spokespersons play an important role in shaping public opinion. Their responsibilities extend beyond defending the party’s policies and responding to political attacks. They must also demonstrate sound judgment, clarity, intellectual depth and the ability to communicate effectively with different sections of the Ghanaian population.
Consequently, the choice of individuals to occupy communication positions often attracts considerable attention, especially when party supporters and political observers have different expectations about the qualities required for such responsibilities.
Salam Mustapha, who has previously served in the NPP’s communication and youth leadership structures, is evidently the preferred alternative in Adams’ assessment. His reference to Mustapha suggests that he believes the party may have overlooked a more suitable personality for the responsibility.
The phrase “the sad story of NPP” further communicates the writer’s broader frustration with what he considers an unfortunate development within the party. Rather than treating the matter as an isolated disagreement over personalities, Adams appears to use it as an example of what he believes is a deeper problem with the party’s current direction.
Although the post is expressed through humour, sarcasm and political mockery, it raises a serious question about the importance of competence and effective communication in political leadership.
For the NPP, the challenge is not simply to appoint people to communication positions but to ensure that those selected can inspire confidence, defend the party’s interests and communicate its message convincingly.
