The protesters, estimated by organisers at over 15,000, marched through different parts of the state, chanting solidarity songs and displaying placards bearing inscriptions such as “Tinubu Beyond 2027,” “Tinubu Must Stay” and “We Believe in Tinubu.”

Addressing the mammoth crowd on Tuesday in Abakaliki, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, expressed appreciation to the protesters for demonstrating their support for President Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress .

Umahi commended the participants for conducting themselves peacefully, alleging that some political opportunists were sponsoring anti-Tinubu protests in a desperate attempt to revive their declining political fortunes.

The Minister maintained that Nigerians had no reason to protest against an administration he said was repositioning the country through reforms and infrastructure development. He argued that the opposition lacked direction and convincing campaign issues ahead of the 2027 elections.

Earlier, the leader of the protest under the aegis of Ebonyi United Forum, Chinedu Nwali, said the solidarity march was organised to express the group’s opposition to what he described as political distractions and attacks against the Tinubu administration.

Nwali said the protest was also aimed at sensitising youths and other residents to what he described as the achievements of the President, declaring that Ebonyi would not allow opposition elements to undermine the administration.

He stated, “If other states are sitting on the fence, we Ebonyians are not going to sit on the fence. We must make our stand known because we are people who appreciate the numerous projects Mr President has used our son to execute in the South-East and Nigeria in general.”

Nwali further declared that the people of Ebonyi would stand by Umahi and defend the political administrations of Tinubu and Governor Francis Nwifuru against what he described as malicious attacks, insisting that the state remained firmly committed to the President’s re-election bid.
