Bombshell On Live TV – NDC’s Julius Anthony Alleges Akufo-Addo Was A Drug Addict And Dealer
A serious allegation has been made on live television against former President Nana Akufo-Addo
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on Monday, November 2, the Deputy National Communications Officer of the NDC, Julius Kwame Anthony, claimed that the man who became President on the ticket of the NPP was involved in illicit drugs.
“The person who became President of the Republic on the ticket of your party was a drug addict, dealing in these same illicit drugs.”
Julius Anthony made the statement during a heated discussion on Good Morning Ghana. The discussion was about the NPP’s petition to foreign missions over diplomatic passports.
While defending his party, Anthony turned the heat on the NPP and dropped the heavy allegation against Akufo-Addo.
He did not provide any evidence, documents, or proof on the show to back the claim. He only made the statement as an allegation.
This is not the first time such an allegation has been made against Nana Akufo-Addo.
In the past, his lawyers have come out strongly to deny it. In a press release in 2011, his counsel, Nana Bediatuo Asante, stated categorically that:
“At no point in Nana Akufo-Addo’s life has he ever been arrested anywhere in the world for the possession of narcotic drugs.”
His team has always challenged anyone with evidence to take it to court or report to the police instead of making claims on radio and TV.
This allegation is big because it was said on national TV by a national officer of a major political party.
It has already started serious debate on social media. Some people are asking why such a heavy claim would be made without proof. Others say if there is truth in it, it must be investigated.
As of now, it remains what it is — an allegation made by Julius Kwame Anthony. There is no official charge, no arrest, and no court ruling to support it.
The ball is now in the NPP and the office of the former President to respond.
