Ramaphosa Says Government Has Heard Public Concerns Over Crime and Corruption

South African President and ANC leader Cyril Ramaphosa has recognised the growing frustration among citizens over crime and corruption, assuring the public that government is aware of the concerns affecting communities across the country.

Speaking during a public engagement, Ramaphosa acknowledged that people are increasingly worried about criminal activities and allegations of corruption involving individuals within government institutions.

The president also highlighted the work of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, saying the investigation was taking a firm approach towards addressing corruption and exposing individuals suspected of involvement in wrongdoing.

The commission was established to investigate allegations of criminal activity, political interference and corruption within South Africa’s criminal justice system. Its formation followed serious claims involving senior police officials and other influential figures.

Ramaphosa’s comments come at a time when law enforcement agencies are facing increased public scrutiny, with citizens demanding greater accountability from those responsible for maintaining safety and enforcing the law.

Several witnesses have already appeared before the commission, giving testimony that has brought further attention to allegations of misconduct and possible connections between criminal networks and public officials.

The president maintained that government had taken note of the public’s concerns and indicated that the commission’s work would play an important role in uncovering the truth and promoting accountability.

However, many South Africans continue to demand visible results in the fight against crime and corruption, arguing that acknowledging public frustration must be followed by meaningful action.
