“Ruto Is Not Sleeping”: Gachagua Admits Defeating Ruto May Be Difficult and Reveals What He Has Been Doing
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has challenged opposition leaders to intensify their political mobilisation if they are serious about removing President William Ruto from power in the 2027 General Election.
In a message directed at fellow opposition members on Tuesday, November 3, Gachagua said the opposition could not defeat Ruto by holding meetings in hotels without engaging voters on the ground.
“We cannot remove Ruto while sitting in hotels. Ruto is not sleeping; he is working on his numbers. He understands that politics is a game of numbers,” Gachagua said.
The former deputy president remarks come amid criticism over his commitment to the opposition’s efforts to challenge Ruto’s re-election bid.
Gachagua’s statement suggested that opposition leaders needed to focus on building voter support and strengthening their political networks rather than relying on meetings alone.
The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader has been positioning himself as a key figure in the opposition ahead of the 2027 polls.
