The Assemblies of God Church Called To Speak On Kwabena Adu Boahene Court Case
The General Secretary of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Jerry Owusu Appauh, has called on the Assemblies of God Church to publicly address the ongoing court case involving Kwabena Adu Boahene, who is reportedly a member of the church.
According to a report by UTV Ghana on Monday, November 2, 2026, Appauh questioned why the religious institution had not commented on the case and urged its leadership to state its position.
Speaking to the media, he said, “It is surprising that the Assemblies of God Church has remained silent on the ongoing court case involving its member, Kwabena Adu Boahene,” he stated. “The church must speak up and take appropriate action.”
The LPG official’s comments have drawn attention to the relationship between religious institutions and public accountability, particularly when individuals associated with them become involved in high-profile legal proceedings.
Appauh believes the church should provide clarity on its position, given its influence in Ghanaian society and its role in promoting values such as integrity, responsibility and justice.
His appeal also raises questions about whether religious organisations should publicly address legal controversies involving their members. However, any response from the church would need to respect the independence of the judiciary and avoid interfering with proceedings.
The case involving Adu Boahene remains before the courts, and no final judgment has been delivered. Consequently, the allegations against him should not be treated as established facts, as the presumption of innocence remains applicable.
As of the time of the report, the Assemblies of God Church had not publicly responded to Appauh’s appeal.
