Real Madrid are reportedly considering a move for Arsenal defender

According to a report from Daily Post Nigeria, on Tues November 03, 2026, Real Madrid are reportedly considering a move for Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori in 2027, with manager Jose Mourinho said to view the Italy international as a priority signing.

Calafiori has impressed since joining Arsenal and has become a regular under Mikel Arteta.

His ability to play both left-back and centre-back is reportedly a major reason for Real Madrid’s interest. Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol is also said to be on the Spanish club’s shortlist, but Calafiori is believed to be their preferred option.

According to TEAMtalk, Real Madrid regard the 24-year-old as a “dream” target and are preparing to assess whether Arsenal would consider a deal. Calafiori’s representatives are reportedly aware of the interest.

The defender is due to have two years remaining on his Arsenal contract next summer. The club are expected to discuss fresh terms with him in 2027, after addressing contract situations involving Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber and captain Martin Odegaard.

Calafiori has started eight of Arsenal’s nine Premier League matches this season. Despite Piero Hincapie’s permanent arrival, the Italian remains ahead of him in the current pecking order.

His estimated transfer value is reported to be €63.3 million, but Arsenal’s importance to him and his importance to the team could make a deal considerably more expensive. Gvardiol’s €90 million move to Manchester City in 2023 remains the record fee for a defender.

Real Madrid may be reluctant to approach that figure, particularly after reportedly signing Marc Cucurella the previous summer.
