They Went To Umrah With Northern Govs; Meanwhile His Cabinet Is Fortified With Yoruba People—Phrank Shaibu

The political fallout over President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent trip to Saudi Arabia for the Umrah pilgrimage has deepened, with Phrank Shaibu, Special Assistant on Public Communication to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, questioning the optics and sincerity behind the presidency’s delegation.

Speaking in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, on Monday November 2, 2026, Shaibu addressed the inclusion of northern governors on the trip, arguing that such political positioning does not reflect equitable representation or genuine administrative inclusivity.

Critiquing the delegation and questioning the administration’s structure, Shaibu stated;

“They went there with northern governors. Well, you can travel with northern governors to Umrah. Meanwhile, his cabinet is fortified with Yoruba people, with people from the western part of Nigeria, not just southern, with people from the western part of Nigeria. And to me, that is the height of hypocrisy. It is not going to Umrah that is the problem. It’s the sincerity of a man’s heart, the sincerity of your faith.”
