Somebody Used N29B Meant For Power Project To Buy Properties, Thinking Nothing Will Happen—Olukoyede

Ola Olukoyede, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has stated that former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, was sentenced to 75 years in prison over the diversion of funds meant for the Zungeru and Mambilla hydroelectric power projects

In a video shared by Arise TV, Olukoyede said the government had provided 32 billion naira for the projects, which were intended to improve electricity supply, but Mamman diverted 29 billion naira and used the money to acquire properties in different places.

Olukoyede said Mamman believed he would not be held accountable, but was eventually convicted and is now in prison.

In Ola Olukoyede’s words: “This project was meant to give light but somebody sat on it. The money that government put is 32 billion naira and somebody sat and took 29 billion naira out of the 32 billion naira and just syphoned it, and acquired properties here and there, thinking that nothing will happen. But nemesis caught up with him, he is in jail as I am talking to you”
