Ghana’s Deputy Foreign Minister Meets Mother of Teen Killed in Bronx Shooting, Pledges Support

Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, James Gyakye Quayson, has met with Doris Adu Gyamfi, the mother of 15-year-old Javits Badu Nkansah Frimpong, who was fatally shot in the Bronx, New York. The meeting was held to convey the government’s condolences and discuss the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death.

During the emotional meeting, Quayson assured the grieving mother that the government stands with her during this painful time and will not leave the family alone. He stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will work through Ghana’s diplomatic mission in the United States to engage relevant American authorities and ensure that the case receives the necessary attention. Quayson emphasized that Javits was a young man with a bright future and his death must not be overlooked.

Madam Gyamfi expressed gratitude for the visit and the government’s assurances as she continues to mourn the loss of her son. Javits, a Ghanaian national, was shot in the abdomen while reportedly walking to school on Thursday, October 29, and later died at a hospital. The incident occurred near his home in the Claremont section of the Bronx. Authorities are still searching for suspects connected to the shooting, and no arrests have been announced.

The meeting underscores the Ghanaian government’s commitment to seeking justice for its citizens abroad and supporting bereaved families through diplomatic channels.
