Zodwa Wabantu Reportedly Found Herself in Trouble

South African dancer and entertainer Zodwa Wabantu is facing a dispute with an event promoter who wants his money back after accusing her of failing to attend two scheduled performances in KwaZulu-Natal.

According to Daily Sun, promoter Sicelo Sibiya has served Zodwa with a letter of demand over two events that were supposed to take place in Nongoma on 26 September and Durban on 10 October 2026.

Sibiya claims he spent R27,600 on the bookings, flights, accommodation and other arrangements. He says he paid for the entertainer’s appearances and went ahead with promoting the events, but she failed to arrive.

The promoter told Daily Sun that he had personally met Zodwa at her home, where they discussed the bookings and recorded promotional material. He claims everything was going according to plan before the first event.

However, when the day arrived, Zodwa allegedly told him that she had missed her flight. Sibiya says he later arranged another booking for her, but she allegedly failed to attend that event as well.

He claims that he tried to contact her to find out what had happened and requested a refund, but was unhappy with the response he received. He has now decided to take legal steps to recover his money.

However, Zodwa has a different version of events.

The dancer told Daily Sun that her agreed performance fee was R30,000, but Sibiya only paid R13,000. She explained that she was not prepared to travel from Gauteng to KwaZulu-Natal using her own money.

Zodwa also claimed that she requested money for travelling on the day of the performance but received only R2,000, which she said was not enough to cover her flight expenses.

She further stated that she would not refund the money she received.

Sibiya has disputed her explanation, maintaining that their agreement was R20,000 and accusing her of changing the details.

The disagreement has now raised questions about the arrangements between the two parties, with the promoter seeking repayment while Zodwa stands by her explanation.
