John Boadu denies ridiculing Boakye Agyarko, urges party unity
The Office of the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has dismissed as fabricated online reports alleging that he ridiculed former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko during the party’s recent national executive elections campaign.
In a statement, the Office described the publication, which circulated online on October 31, 2026, including on Opr.news, as unverified and urged party members and the public to disregard the claims.
It categorically denied remarks attributed to Mr Boadu, stressing that there was no verified evidence that Mr Agyarko authored or endorsed statements being circulated in his name.
The Office acknowledged that Facebook accounts belonging to Umar Haris and Kofi SammyTV appeared to have helped spread the allegations but said it would not speculate on their motives or assign responsibility without conclusive evidence.
It consequently urged party faithful to verify information before sharing it, warning against the circulation of claims that could undermine the unity the party is seeking to rebuild.
The statement further emphasised Mr Boadu’s commitment to reconciliation and mutual respect following the competitive internal elections, adding that he remained open to bringing all party members, including Mr Agyarko, together towards achieving the NPP’s common objectives.
It also called on contestants in the recent national leadership and flagbearership contests, alongside their campaign teams and associates, to discourage inflammatory commentary and conduct that could deepen divisions within the party.
“Our internal elections were contests for leadership, not grounds for lasting division,” the statement said.
It stressed that despite members supporting different candidates during the elections, the party must now unite under one banner and focus on winning the 2028 general elections.
The Office said the NPP must present Ghanaians with a credible, coherent and compelling alternative to what it described as the failing National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
It cautioned that internal differences and individual ambitions must not take precedence over the party’s collective political objectives.
The statement concluded by urging party members to exercise restraint, disregard unverified narratives and recommit themselves to unity and discipline as the NPP prepares to return to government in 2028.
“A disciplined party is a united party; a united party is a winning party,” it added.
