‘Welcome Sakaja to ODM and Tell Him to See Me’ – Party Leader to Simba Arati
Kisii Governor Simba Arati has sparked fresh political discussions after revealing an interesting message from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader concerning Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and his possible association with the party.
Speaking about the party leader’s health and political position, Arati dismissed concerns about his condition, insisting that he was in good health. He further disclosed that the party leader had personally asked him to welcome Sakaja into ODM and encourage him to arrange a meeting.
“Our party leader is in good health. He even told me, ‘Simba, welcome Sakaja to ODM and tell him to come and see me,'” Arati stated.
The remarks have attracted attention because of the political significance of Nairobi County and Sakaja’s position as its governor. Any potential political realignment involving the Nairobi leader could have implications for the competition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
ODM has maintained a significant political presence in Nairobi, where its leaders and supporters continue to influence conversations surrounding the city’s political future. Sakaja’s possible association with the party would therefore be an interesting development, particularly as political leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the next elections.
Arati’s statement also comes at a time when political alliances and consultations are becoming increasingly important in Kenya. Leaders from different political backgrounds are exploring relationships that could strengthen their influence and improve their chances in the upcoming electoral contest.
However, Arati’s remarks should not be interpreted as confirmation that Sakaja has officially joined ODM. The governor has not been reported in the statement as having formally announced such a decision. The proposed meeting would provide an opportunity for further discussions if it takes place.
For ODM supporters, the possibility of attracting Nairobi’s sitting governor could generate fresh conversations about the party’s influence in the capital. Nevertheless, Sakaja’s political direction and any eventual decision will remain important developments to watch.
