8 Dead, 21 Rescued After Passenger Bus Crashes Into Parked Bus on Elubo–Takoradi Highway

At least eight people have died, while 21 others have been rescued following a fatal road accident involving an Ivorian passenger bus and a parked Burkinabè bus at Azuletti, near Samenye, along the Elubo–Takoradi Highway in Ghana.

The tragic collision reportedly occurred when the passenger bus travelling from Côte d’Ivoire crashed into a stationary bus with Burkinabè registration. The impact resulted in multiple casualties, leaving emergency responders with the difficult task of rescuing survivors and recovering victims from the wreckage.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service, eight people lost their lives in the accident, while 21 others were successfully rescued from the scene.

Emergency personnel responded to the incident and worked to assist those trapped or injured following the collision. The rescued victims were attended to, with further medical attention expected for those who sustained injuries.

Preliminary information from the Ghana National Fire Service suggests that speeding may have contributed to the crash. However, the exact circumstances surrounding the collision have yet to be fully established.

The involvement of vehicles connected to two neighbouring West African countries has also drawn attention to the dangers facing motorists travelling along major international routes.

The Elubo–Takoradi Highway serves as an important transport corridor, connecting communities and facilitating movement between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.

The incident has once again raised concerns about road safety, particularly the dangers of excessive speeding and vehicles parked along major highways.

Motorists have been urged to exercise caution, maintain safe speeds and remain alert when approaching stationary vehicles.

The death toll stands at eight, with 21 people rescued following the devastating collision.
