Star Player Walks Out of Camp After Clash With Coach

Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane may have a selection problem ahead of the national team’s back-to-back 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Kenya. Injury concerns involving several Mamelodi Sundowns players have become a major talking point before the two matches.

The latest information confirms injuries to Aubrey Modiba, Teboho Mokoena and Bathusi Aubaas, which happened after their international commitments in September 2026. Sundowns players remain a big part of the national squad, so their fitness matters to both the club and the country. The Brazilians have long supplied some of South Africa’s most important players, and their skill, experience and understanding of the game make them valuable at international level. If key players are out for a long time, Mosimane’s tactical plans could be affected.

Mosimane will be hoping the injured players recover enough to be available for selection when the qualifying campaign resumes. Even so, players coming back from injury will need to be handled with care, especially because club and international football both put heavy demands on their bodies.

The two matches give Bafana Bafana another chance to improve their position in the AFCON 2027 qualifying race. South Africa are in Group D with Kenya, Guinea and Eritrea. Kenya have already secured a place at the tournament as co-hosts, but the qualifying battle remains important for the other teams in the group.

Mosimane’s main aim will be to make sure injuries do not slow his side down. If key players are missing, he may have to rethink some of his combinations and tactics. That could also give other players a chance to show what they can do and make a stronger case for regular national selection.

For now, the focus remains on how quickly the affected Sundowns players recover. Mosimane will be hoping for good fitness news as the build-up continues, because having his best players healthy and ready could make a big difference against Kenya.
