2007:I Told Yar’Adua”I’ll Demolish Akpaka Forest By Air, Land And No Animal Will Get Out Alive” —Obi

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has stated that when he was governor, he approached then-President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua for permission to use air and ground military operations to clear the criminal camps in Akpaka Forest, Onitsha

In a video shared by Splash FM 1055, Obi said he successfully got rid of the criminals in the forest. He said today there is a modern estate located in the area which used to be Akpaka Forest

Obi also promised that if elected president alongside his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, they would unite the country and declare a state of emergency on insecurity. He said their administration would take decisive action against kidnappers, including those who abduct schoolchildren and take them into forests

In Obi’s words: “I went to President Yar’Adua, I said ‘Mr President there is a forest in my place, I want to demolish that forest and I am going to use air, land and make sure that no animal comes out there alive'”
