90% of prophets in Ghana are not born again, they sleep with other people wives – Otabil alleges

According to report by Thebbcghana on Monday 2, November 2026, founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil, has sparked public discussion following his remarks about the conduct and spiritual lives of some prophets operating in Ghana.

According to the renowned Ghanaian preacher, approximately 90 per cent of prophets in the country are not genuinely born again, raising concerns about the activities and intentions of some individuals who identify themselves as men of God.

Pastor Otabil reportedly made the remarks while addressing issues surrounding the conduct of religious leaders. He suggested that many of these prophets do not live according to the Christian principles they publicly preach, despite presenting themselves as spiritual authorities.

He further alleged that some prophets engage in immoral relationships, including sleeping with other people’s wives. He described individuals involved in such practices as crooks, questioning the authenticity of their religious calling and commitment to Christianity.

Beyond the allegations of sexual misconduct, the ICGC founder also claimed that some prophets are involved in occultic practices and necromancy, which refers to attempts to communicate with the dead or seek supernatural knowledge through them.

His comments have drawn attention to the broader debate about religious accountability, spiritual integrity and the activities of self-proclaimed prophets in Ghana.

The remarks are also likely to renew conversations about the need for Christians to exercise discernment when choosing religious leaders and to examine the teachings and conduct of those who claim to represent God.

Although Pastor Otabil’s statements have generated interest, the allegations should be understood as his assessment of some religious figures rather than established findings about the entire prophetic community in Ghana.
