A TikTok content creator has been arrested in KwaZulu-Natal following allegations that he insulted provincial police commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and encouraged violence through a video posted on social media.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the suspect was arrested on Sunday afternoon, 2 November 2026, at Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu.
Police investigations reportedly began after a video appeared on the suspect’s TikTok account, allegedly containing statements that amounted to crimen injuria and incitement to commit violence.
A specialised SAPS Task Team was assigned to investigate the matter, eventually leading to the suspect’s arrest.
The allegations have attracted attention because they involve the provincial police commissioner, Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who has been a prominent figure in South Africa’s policing and law enforcement landscape.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 3 November 2026, where he will face the legal process.
At this stage, the allegations against the TikToker remain accusations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
