2027: Kwankwaso Raises Alarm Over Kano Governor’s Alleged Moves Against NDC

In a recent post on Kwankwaso X handle on November 1, 2026, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has accused Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of allegedly working behind the scenes to frustrate the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) from contesting the state’s governorship election in 2027.

The former governor made the allegation in a video circulated by the Kwankwasiyya Movement on Sunday, November 1.

Kwankwaso, who is now the NDC’s vice-presidential candidate, questioned Yusuf’s repeated visits to Abuja, suggesting that the trips were connected to the party’s political future in Kano.

He claimed the governor was exploring ways to prevent the NDC from producing a governorship candidate in the next election.

Reflecting on their political differences, Kwankwaso said Yusuf had previously taken a wrong political decision but appeared to have recognised his mistake.

The former governor’s remarks have brought renewed attention to the strained relationship between the two politicians and the growing uncertainty surrounding the NDC’s participation in Kano’s 2027 governorship contest.
