Best In Europe –Carragher Lauds Arsenal’s Defensive Masterclass After Historic Anfield Victory

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher showered immense praise on Arsenal’s defensive resilience following their historic 1–0 victory at Anfield, highlighting how Mikel Arteta’s backline excelled even without regular starter William Saliba.

Speaking on sky sports after the Gunners ended a 14-year wait for a win away to Liverpool, Carragher emphasized that Arsenal’s defensive structure remains the gold standard across European football.

“You are playing against the best defence in this country and probably in Europe,” Carragher stated. “And that’s all without arguably the best defender in the world in Saliba.”

The pundit went on to compare Arsenal’s current defensive unit under Arteta to the iconic backlines that brought league glory to North London in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

“When you think of how Arsenal won titles in 1989 and 1991 and the famous back four,” Carragher added, “I think we’re at a stage where we can measure this defence up against that—they’re certainly in the conversation.”

Arsenal’s latest clean sheet at Anfield saw them extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table, further reinforcing their credentials as the league’s most formidable defensive unit.
