TikTok creator arrested over alleged incitement video aimed at Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi

Ask AI 1minA 38-year-old TikTok content creator has been arrested after allegedly posting a video accusing KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi of doing nothing while protesters were allegedly brutalised by police.

A 38-year-old TikTok creator is due in court after being arrested in KwaMashu over a video police allege contained incitement to violence and crimen injuria against KZN police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

In a statement released late on Sunday, provincial police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said the man was traced to the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu following his social media post.

In the video, the content creator accused Mkhwanazi, who has been tipped to take over as the new National Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), commonly known as the Hawks, of doing nothing while people taking part in marches were allegedly being brutalised by police officers.

He also directed explicit and insulting language at the provincial commissioner.

“After realising that the suspect’s TikTok rant contained criminal elements of crime injuria and incitement to violence, the KZN Provincial Task Team opened a case for investigation. The suspect was traced and found at Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu where he was arrested,” Netshiunda explained.

He is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court today (Monday).
