MP Nelson Koech Reacts After Sheila Chepkirui Wins New York City Marathon

Belgut Member of Parliament Nelson Koech has celebrated Kenyan athletes following their impressive performance at the New York City Marathon, where they secured several top positions.In a post shared on Sunday evening, Koech congratulated Sheila Chepkirui for emerging victorious in the prestigious race, describing her achievement as a proud moment for Kenya.

He also recognised Hellen Obiri, who finished third, alongside Edna Kiplagat and Mercy Chelangat, who secured fourth and fifth positions respectively.

Koech particularly praised Chepkirui for maintaining her impressive record at the competition, noting that her third consecutive podium finish demonstrated her consistency, determination and exceptional talent.

The legislator said the achievement had brought pride to Kericho County and the country at large.

He further congratulated the athletes for flying Kenya’s flag high on the international stage, highlighting the continued dominance of Kenyan long-distance runners in major global competitions.

The results once again showcased Kenya’s strong presence in international athletics, with the country’s runners delivering remarkable performances in one of the world’s most recognised marathon events.
