Safaricom Reveals 3 Simple Steps Kenyans Can Follow to Start Investing Through Ziidi Using M-Pesa

Safaricom has outlined three simple steps that Kenyans can follow to start investing through its Ziidi Money Market Fund, offering M-Pesa customers an opportunity to grow their money directly from their mobile phones.

In an update shared on Sunday, November 1, 2026, the telecommunications giant encouraged customers to explore the investment service, which allows users to transfer money from their M-Pesa wallets into an investment account and earn returns depending on the fund’s performance.

The service is designed to make investing more accessible to ordinary Kenyans, including people who may not have large amounts of money to invest or access to traditional investment services.

According to Safaricom, customers can access Ziidi through the M-Pesa application or by dialling *334# on their mobile phones, meaning smartphone ownership is not a requirement.

Safaricom has outlined three main steps for customers interested in joining the investment platform.

Step 1: Open M-Pesa. Smartphone users should open their M-Pesa application and log in.

Those using feature phones can dial *334# to access the M-Pesa menu.

Step 2: Select Financial Services. Navigate to the Financial Services section and choose Ziidi to access the investment option.

Step 3: Register and Invest. Follow the instructions provided, confirm the required details using your M-Pesa PIN and transfer the amount you wish to invest.

Once the transaction is completed, the money moves from the M-Pesa wallet into the Ziidi Money Market Fund.

Safaricom says customers can monitor their investment balances and earnings through the service.

Deposits and withdrawals are also available through M-Pesa, subject to the fund’s applicable terms and conditions.

The platform provides an accessible option for people who want to begin investing without visiting a physical branch.

However, Ziidi is an investment product, not an ordinary savings wallet. Returns are not fixed or guaranteed because they depend on the fund’s performance.

Kenyans interested in joining are encouraged to review the applicable fees, taxes, investment risks and withdrawal conditions before committing their money.

The move highlights Safaricom’s continued efforts to expand mobile-based financial services and make investment opportunities more accessible to Kenyans.
