Donald Trump orders immediate visa for mother of Ghanaian teen shot dead in US
Mamdani said Trump gave the assurance during a telephone conversation, following concerns over the mother’s ability to travel to the US to bid farewell to her son.
In a social media post on October 31, 2026, the New York City mayor said he had personally spoken with the US president, who agreed to grant the bereaved mother a visa without delay.

“Javits Frimpong’s mother deserves to say goodbye to her son in person. I just got off the phone with President Trump, and he has agreed to grant her visa immediately.
“All of New York City is mourning this tragedy,” Mamdani wrote.

Police are searching for three male suspects, but no arrests have been made. The motive remains unclear.
Reports suggest the suspects, who were last seen wearing black clothing, were fleeing down Fulton Avenue, with two of them were wearing surgical masks.
Meanwhile, Surveillance video shows a person fleeing the scene who matched a description released by police.
The video showed someone wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants and a mask.
