Tinubu Makes Major Move In Kano As Kwankwaso Reveals What President Has Established
According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday, October 31, 2026, President Bola Tinubu has taken further steps to strengthen security in Kano State through the establishment of a new army battalion and an artillery regiment. The development was disclosed by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, who described the initiative as an important move towards tackling insecurity in the state.
Kwankwaso explained that the deployment of additional military formations would improve security operations and strengthen efforts to combat banditry, terrorism and other criminal activities affecting Kano and neighbouring communities.
In a statement released on Saturday, the APC chieftain disclosed that the 24 Battalion had been stationed in Tudun Wada, while the 311 Artillery Regiment had been established in Dambatta. He described both locations as strategic choices aimed at improving military responses to security threats.
He commended President Tinubu for approving the security measures, arguing that the new military establishments demonstrated the Federal Government’s determination to protect residents and their property.
“President Tinubu has demonstrated that he cares deeply about the security of Kano and its people; The establishment of these new military formations is a clear demonstration that the Federal Government is prepared to take decisive action to protect lives and property,” he stated.
Kwankwaso also acknowledged the contributions of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Defence Minister Christopher Musa and Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle towards strengthening the state’s security arrangements.
According to him, Kano’s large population and economic significance make it essential for authorities to maintain a strong security structure capable of preventing criminal groups from threatening communities, commercial activities and public safety.
He expressed optimism that the new military formations would support existing security operations, improve cooperation among security agencies and strengthen the government’s response to emerging threats.
The APC chieftain further maintained that the initiative would encourage public confidence in the administration’s efforts to address insecurity. He also reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s government and its security policies.
“For all that President Tinubu is doing for Kano, the people of the state will continue to appreciate him; We will reciprocate these gestures through our continued support for his administration and its programmes,” he added.
Kwankwaso also appealed to residents of Tudun Wada, Dambatta and surrounding communities to cooperate with military personnel by providing useful information about suspicious activities.
He emphasised that effective communication between local communities and security agencies would be essential to ensuring the success of the newly established military formations and improving safety across Kano State.
