Super Eagles Star Reacts to Barcelona Loanee Training Performances: ‘Makes you want to punch him

According to a report by Barca Universal on Saturday October 31, 2026, Marc-Andre ter Stegen appears to be making a strong impression at Ajax following his summer loan move from Barcelona, with Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare jokingly admitting that the German goalkeeper’s impressive training performances can be extremely frustrating.

The experienced shot-stopper left Barcelona in search of regular playing time after falling behind Joan Garcia and Wojciech Szczesny in Hansi Flick’s goalkeeping hierarchy. His decision to join the Dutch club has seemingly provided him with a fresh opportunity to rebuild his career.

Speaking in an interview with Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, Arokodare shared his experience of training alongside the former Barcelona captain. The Nigerian forward praised Ter Stegen’s impressive ability to stop shots while joking about how difficult it can be to get past him.

“Ter Stegen drives me crazy during training. Sometimes it’s incredibly frustrating to see him keep saving so many shots. It makes you want to punch him!” Arokodare remarked.

The striker’s comments highlight the quality Ter Stegen has displayed since arriving in the Netherlands. The German international has made 13 appearances across all competitions for Ajax, recording three clean sheets while conceding 19 goals.

His move represents another attempt to regain his previous standing after a difficult period at Barcelona. The 34-year-old had previously joined Girona on loan in January, but an early injury restricted his opportunities at the Catalan club.

Ter Stegen has now reunited with former Girona manager Michel at Ajax, where he hopes to enjoy a more productive spell. A successful campaign could improve his market value and increase the possibility of a permanent departure from Barcelona next summer.

The goalkeeper remains contracted to the Catalan giants until 2028. However, Barcelona are expected to monitor his progress closely as they consider ending their association with him permanently at the end of the season.
