Fabulous Ladies head coach Nana Atuahene has confirmed the death of midfielder Agartha Takyiwa, popularly known as βOne Cediβ, following a fatal attack near Afrancho in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region.
The footballer reportedly lost her life on Thursday, October 29, 2026, after being attacked while working as a commercial tricycle operator, commonly referred to as a Pragya rider.
According to Coach Atuahene, the incident occurred at approximately 10:30 pm, shortly after Takyiwa had completed a training session with her teammates and returned to her commercial transport business.
He explained that the player had picked up a female passenger and was heading towards Afrancho New Site when she encountered two men who allegedly attempted to take possession of her tricycle.
During the incident, she was reportedly stabbed in multiple parts of her body, leading to her death.
Speaking to Kumasi-based Luv FM, Atuahene confirmed that Takyiwa was an active member of the club and had been registered for the 2026/27 football season.
He said the team had trained together earlier that Thursday, making news of her death particularly devastating for the club.
The coach further disclosed that two individuals had been arrested in Techiman in connection with the alleged killing.
Takyiwa’s death has sent shockwaves through Fabulous Ladies and Ghana’s women’s football fraternity, with the player remembered as someone who balanced her sporting ambitions with commercial work to earn a living.
Her death has also raised concerns about the safety of commercial tricycle operators, particularly those who work late into the night.
Police investigations are expected to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the responsibility of the suspects.
