How Orlando Pirates Could Line Up Against Kaizer Chiefs in Soweto Derby

Orlando Pirates are preparing for one of their biggest challenges of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign as they get ready to face arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the highly anticipated Soweto Derby.

The Buccaneers will enter Saturday’s encounter at FNB Stadium hoping to continue their impressive run of form and secure another important victory against their bitter rivals.

Head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou faces several selection decisions as he looks to assemble a strong starting eleven capable of delivering the desired result.

Sipho Chaine is expected to retain his position between the posts following his impressive performances this season. The goalkeeper has played an important role in Pirates’ defensive success.

In defence, Bulelani Sigomoshe could feature at right-back, with Deon Hotto expected to occupy the opposite side. Lebone Seema and Nkosinathi Sibisi are tipped to form the central defensive partnership.

The midfield could see Thalente Mbatha, Thapelo Mokobodi and Simphiwe Selepe combining to provide energy, creativity and defensive stability. However, Simphiwe Masilela remains another option for Ouaddou.

Going forward, Tshepang Moremi is expected to be one of the key attacking players after his recent impressive performances. His pace and ability to create opportunities could cause serious problems for the Chiefs defence.

Boitumelo Radiopane and Evidence Makgopa are competing for the central striking position, while Oswin Appollis and other attacking options could also influence the final selection.

Pirates’ predicted starting XI could be: Chaine; Sigomoshe, Seema, Sibisi, Hotto; Mokobodi, Selepe, Mbatha; Masilela, Radiopane, Moremi.

With bragging rights and valuable league points at stake, Pirates will be determined to produce another strong performance and maintain their dominance over their Soweto rivals.

However, the final decision rests with Ouaddou, whose tactical choices could prove decisive in this weekend’s blockbuster encounter.
