Real Madrid Near Agreement to Sign 19-Year-Old Ghanaian Midfielder for Castilla
According to a report by Madrid Universal on Friday, October 30, 2026, Real Madrid are reportedly close to signing Ghanaian midfielder Latif Issman from UD Logrones as they look to strengthen their reserve team, Real Madrid Castilla, ahead of the 2027/28 season.
According to ESPN journalist Rodra, negotiations between the two clubs have made significant progress, with Madrid intensifying their efforts to secure the 19-year-old’s signature after following his development for some time.
The Spanish giants previously attempted to sign Issman during last summer’s transfer window, identifying him as a promising addition to Castilla’s midfield. However, the move could not be completed before the deadline.
Despite failing to reach an agreement at the time, Madrid have maintained their interest in the teenager and continued working towards bringing him to the club.
Although no official agreement has been completed or signed, discussions with Logrones are reportedly at an advanced stage, raising expectations that the transfer could be finalised soon.
If negotiations are successful, Issman is expected to become Castilla’s first signing for the 2027/28 campaign, adding to the club’s growing group of young talents.
The Ghanaian midfielder reportedly has a release clause worth approximately €300,000 in his current contract with Logrones. However, it remains unclear whether Madrid will activate the clause or attempt to negotiate a lower transfer fee.
The potential deal also reflects Real Madrid’s wider recruitment strategy of identifying talented youngsters, developing their abilities and potentially generating significant revenue through future transfers.
The club’s academy, popularly known as La Fabrica, has become an important source of income, with several graduates attracting substantial transfer fees after moving to other teams.
Last summer, departures involving academy-developed players reportedly generated more than €200 million, providing Madrid with considerable financial support for their transfer activities.
The Spanish club have continued investing in emerging talents, with players such as Sergio Martinez, Oscar Naasei and Rayan Zinebi already joining the Castilla setup.
Issman’s expected arrival would represent another addition to that recruitment project. The physically strong midfielder is admired for his ability to cover significant ground, qualities Madrid believe could support his development within the club’s youth structure.
