Genoveva Umeh-Led ‘Tele x Zikora ’ Arrives Big Screen
Tele x Zikora’, a new film led by award-winning actress Genoveva Umeh, is bringing a young adult narrative to the big screen. The movie focuses on the experiences of young adults and the stories that reflect their world.
According to the producers, the arrival of ‘Tele x Zikora’ also presents an opportunity to renew conversations about the place of young adult films within Nollywood’s theatrical offering. Leading the film is Genoveva Umeh, whose growing list of acclaimed performances has made her a recognisable presence across Nigerian film and television. Umeh won the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Breath of Life and received The Future Awards Africa Prize for Acting in the same year.
Her credits include Netflix’s Blood Sisters, Blood Sisters 2, Far From Home and Baby Farm, as well as A Tribe Called Judah, The Herd and Siraam. Her performance in The Herd earned her a 2026 AMVCA nomination for Best Lead Actress, adding to her growing record of industry recognition.
“‘Tele x Zikora’ offers viewers an opportunity to connect with the characters, see aspects of their own lives in the story and enjoy a cinematic experience that stays with them beyond the screen. I’m excited for audiences to watch the film, connect with its world and discover the journey we’ve brought to life. Viewers should expect a story that feels relatable, engaging and reflective of the experiences, relationships and choices that shape young adulthood,” she said of the movie.
Beyond its individual release, ‘Tele x Zikora’, which is now showing in cinemas nationwide, arrives at a time when the continued development of youth-focused Nigerian films could create more opportunities for emerging talent, fresh perspectives and stories that reflect the diversity of contemporary Nigerian life.
With Genoveva Umeh at the helm, ‘Tele x Zikora’ brings that conversation to cinemas, inviting audiences to reconnect with young adult storytelling and experience the genre in a theatrical setting.
