“I’m Ready To Take Over Leadership And Restore Peace And Prosperity In The Country” Zuma Declared

uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party President Jacob Zuma has called on South Africans to vote for his party in the upcoming 4 November 2026 local government elections, declaring that the organisation is ready to take over leadership and restore peace and prosperity across the country.

Zuma made the appeal while addressing supporters on Friday evening, 30 October, in his first public address since being discharged from hospital.

His appearance comes at a crucial moment for the MK Party as political parties intensify their campaigns ahead of the municipal elections scheduled for next Wednesday.

During his address, the former South African president urged voters to give the MK Party an opportunity to lead, presenting the organisation as ready to assume greater political responsibility and address the country’s challenges.

Zuma’s message centred on the party’s ambition to bring about political change and create conditions for peace, stability and economic prosperity.

His return to the public spotlight is particularly significant given his recent hospitalisation, which kept him away from public campaign activities for several days.

The MK Party previously confirmed that Zuma had been discharged from hospital after doctors identified fatigue during a routine medical check-up and recommended a period of rest under medical supervision. The party subsequently assured supporters that he was recovering and remained involved in party affairs.

His Friday evening address marks an important moment in the party’s final campaign push, with only days remaining before South Africans head to the polls.

The 4 November elections will determine the composition of municipal councils across the country, with political parties seeking support from voters to secure representation and leadership positions in local government.

Zuma’s appeal places the MK Party’s campaign message of political change, peace and prosperity at the centre of its final mobilisation efforts.
