Moeneeb Josephs Rejects Sangoma Label While Backing a Match Winner

It is evident that Moeneeb Josephs’s self-assurance in analysing matches should not be mistaken for his abilities as a traditional healer, as the former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana custodian has denied claims that he has supernatural skills that can foretell football outcomes.

Josephs is still a well-known figure when people talk about South African football, having played for a long time in the league. Being a former professional footballer, he knows firsthand the demands, anticipation, and unpredictability of a game.

When asked about his ability to forecast the results of football matches, the former custodian made the remarks. Although he seemed self-assured in his evaluation, Josephs made it clear that he neither knows the precise scores nor claims to have the powers associated with a Sangoma.

Furthermore, his answer gave the impression that he was more concerned with supporting a victorious side’s final score than trying to guess the exact amount of goals that team would score.

“No, I just don’t keep score. My family is not Sangoma. However, I have triumphed.

The comment has brought a touch of humour to the discourse, which is especially welcome given the popularity of football predictions among supporters who relish in discussing potential outcomes prior to important matches.

Match predictions are a popular topic of conversation in South Africa, particularly before big league matches or when long-standing rivals meet. Many football fans seek the advice of people who have been on the pitch at the highest level, such as coaches, players, and analysts.

The difference between projecting a winner and asserting certainty about an exact scoreline is shown in Josephs’ statement. The unpredictable nature of football means that not even the most seasoned football personalities can anticipate how a match will go.

Additionally, his comments show that he is open to discussing football without making his forecasts as sure bets.
